Global Collaboration Against ASF meeting in Rome 2025

From 28–30 April 2025, experts gathered at FAO headquarters in Rome for a high-level scientific meeting on ASF.

Co-hosted by FAO and the Global African Swine Fever Research Alliance (GARA), the event aimed to strengthen international collaboration and share the latest scientific developments to support ASF prevention and control strategies.

The meeting featured into four sessions covered: Epidemiology, Diagnostics, Virology, Immunology and Vaccines.

Strengthened research partnerships
Updated science-based control strategies
Increased support for vulnerable countries
Emphasis on practical, innovative solutions to safeguard livelihoods and biodiversity

ASF Partnership Platform launch meeting

On 12 and 13 June, more than 40 public and private stakeholders from across Southeast Asia gathered in Bangkok for the launch of the ASF Partnership Platform which provided a really open and stimulating environment for exchange of ideas and experiences about ASF!

Reporting on African swine fever and wild pigs in Asia and the Pacific

A report recommended by the Standing Group of Experts on African Swine Fever in Asia and the Pacific reviews the current knowledge of the ecology, distribution, and role in swine disease epidemiology of wild pigs in the region. The report also makes recommendations on ways to manage populations of wild pigs, their interface with domestic pigs and other actions that will contribute to the prevention and control of ASF in Asia and the Pacific.
